Project Description
The five young artists of Baba Yaga come from Austria, Montenegro, and Israel and have been playing together since 2022, with the current lineup formed in December 2023. Their repertoire ranges from wild Balkan pieces, Klezmer tunes, lively Swing, Gypsy Jazz, and oriental dances to contemporary compositions—written, reinterpreted, and arranged by the ensemble itself—always leaving ample space for free improvisation. Their sound is pure and, thanks to the fully acoustic instrumentation, authentic, clear, and honest: violin, double bass, guitar, percussion, accordion & vocals.
In June 2024, Baba Yaga released their debut album GRENZENLOS. The band has also made a name for itself internationally, touring not only in Austria but also in Germany, Switzerland, and France.
