The unpretentious and moving performance of the four women of HALS is distinguished by their natural expressiveness and directness, defying the mainstream of a cappella perfection. They are not afraid to take risks.
While each singer leaves room for her individual voice and virtuosity, they never lose sight of the harmonious blending of their voices and their sensitive interaction with one another.
From their own compositions, they plunge headlong into collective improvisations with pinpoint precision in their landings. In addition to their characteristic HALS pieces, they perform originally arranged works from the genres of jazz, world, and contemporary music.
