Projekt Beschreibung
Extempore was founded in 2021 at the initiative of pianist Villy Paraskevopoulos for the V:NM Festival in Graz. The ensemble's debut performance took place as a trio, following the sudden and tragic passing of bassist Thomas Stempkowski shortly before the concert.
Subsequent performances featured various guest bassists, until Vinicius Cajado joined the group – bringing a musical voice that integrates seamlessly into the ensemble while expanding its artistic direction.
The quartet – Werner Zangerle (saxophone), Villy Paraskevopoulos (piano), Vinicius Cajado (double bass), and Mark Holub (drums) – operates stylistically at the intersection of European improvised music and American free jazz. Their work places strong emphasis on free improvisation and the collective shaping of dynamic arcs
