Album: Almendro Vol. 1

'Almendro' is not just the Spanish word for the almond tree; it is also a majestic, giant tree of the Costa Rican rainforest, home to thousands of creatures and vital to over sixty species. To me, this tree symbolizes the complexity of human existence, with its many streams of life. I chose Almendro as my stage name to reflect this, as well as the diverse influences in my music that blend the modal power of Andalusian flamenco with jazz and classical music. The compositions in this volume range from binary rhythms to an embracement of ternary elements of traditional flamenco, which are further enhanced by my collaboration with Andrej Prozorov and Raphael Preuschl.
