Christian Groffner is a jazz singer, trombonist, composer, and bandleader from Traun, Upper Austria. He studied jazz trombone at the Anton Bruckner Private University, where he completed a semester abroad in 2014/15 at the HfMT Hamburg with, among others, Nils Landgren and Dan Gottshall. In 2014, he won two Gold Awards at the International Jazzeducation Festival in Shanghai. He completed his master’s degree with distinction at the MUK Vienna in 2018. In the same year, he was recognized as an emerging jazz talent at the Marianne Mendt Jazz Festival. With his Christian Groffner Quartet, founded in 2019, he blends jazzy soundscapes with vocals, humor, and storytelling. He is active as a musician, composer, and arranger in numerous projects.
