Composer & Pianist Ali Hossein Mahdavi (b. 1996, Tehran) is a composer, pianist, and producer based in Vienna. His work connects contemporary chamber music, Iranian traditions, and structured improvisation, shaped by rhythmic complexity, distinctive voicings, and expressive form. After early studies in tombak, guitar, and piano, he moved to Vienna in 2015 to study composition with Filimon Ginalis and Alexandra Karastoyanova-Hermentin. Since 2019, jazz has deeply influenced his music. He co-founded Psahzz, which organizes one of Vienna’s most active monthly jazz jams at Loop. His albums include Pyotr Ilyich (2023), BISTOHAFT (2023), and Lost Stop (2025), blending chamber, jazz, and Iranian elements.
