Newcomer: Lorenz Widauer

Lorenz Widauer is a trumpeter, composer and bandleader whose work moves between improvised, contemporary and transcultural music. He has worked with, among others, Shake Stew, Christian Muthspiel’s Orjazztra Vienna and Yvonne Moriel’s sweetlife. From 2021 to 2024, he was solo trumpeter in Jedermann at the Salzburg Festival. In 2025 and 2026, he released two albums: Until We Meet Again with Avin Ahmadi and Bangers & Ballads with Philipp Schiepek. He also contributed as a trumpeter and co-composer to Yvonne Moriel’s album SWEETLIFE III. He has toured worldwide with his own and collaborative projects. He was selected for the internationally assembled Focusyear Band 25, led by Wolfgang Muthspiel, won the ARTEDEA Competition and received the Hubert von Goisern Culture Award.
