French chanson classics with a new jazz twist. In some of the songs, Valérie mixes French and German, for example in the chanson ‘Le Fiacre’ (1907) by Yvette Guilbert, which becomes a mixture of French chanson and Viennese song. There are unexpected pieces such as the hit by German star H. Grönemeyer, ‘Mensch’, in a French version written by French singer Camille. Or the French version of the song ‘Ein bisschen Frieden’, which won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982, ‘La paix sur terre’. The bilingual mix of styles, including pop, jazz and chanson, is given a homogeneous sound by the fresh, humorous and light-footed jazz arrangements. ‘Amitiés’ is an album for the soul of Europe and pays homage to friendship.
