The Austrian quartet led by violinist and composer Johannes Dickbauer (with Sebastian Schneider, piano; Raphael Preuschl, e-bass; András Dés, percussion) has spent over five years fusing classical chamber music with jazz. Internationally acclaimed, the band has played festivals from Ystad to Cairo and Vienna's renowned Porgy & Bess.
Signature elements include contrapuntal compositions and intricate rhythmic layering, unfolding in an arc from delicate passages to powerful, explosive moments. On the new album You Killed My Bleeding Heart, the sound — now featuring e-bass — grows rockier and more accessible without losing its chamber-music finesse.
