Album: You killed my bleeding heart

J.D.HIVE, the quartet led by violinist and composer Johannes Dickbauer, releases its second album, "You Killed My Bleeding Heart." Since forming over five years ago, the band has earned international acclaim — from Jazz Thing to London Jazz News to Allaboutjazz — and has performed at festivals in Ystad, Brixen, Budapest, and Cairo, as well as Vienna's Porgy & Bess. On the new record, Dickbauer weaves classical counterpoint and chamber-music aesthetics into a jazz context, complemented by a more contemporary, rockier sound thanks to the newly added electric bass. Between alluring melodies, epic moments, and rhythmic finesse, a richly varied soundscape unfolds — from the bold gesture of the title track to the unexpected turns of "Arctic Echoes."
