Project Description
The quartet Phraim was founded in 2016 by Nina Reiter, Marc Mezgolits, and Peter Primus Frosch; guitarist Mareille Merck joined the band in 2025. As a true collective, all four musicians contribute their own compositions and develop them together, creating a distinctive and versatile form of contemporary jazz that defies stylistic boundaries.
With their fourth album Sirens, the band draws on the myth of the Sirens and reinterprets it from a contemporary perspective. The music explores feminist themes and female self-determination, moving between seduction, disruption, and empowerment. Atmospheric improvisations, powerful interplay, and fragile moments merge into a multifaceted band sound – intense, contemporary, and expressive.
