Album: Harry Pepl & The (Lonely) Single Swinger Band Live

To mark the 80th birthday of Harry Pepl (1945–2005), Harry Pepl (tape) & The (Lonely) Single Swinger Band is being released. Described by Le Monde as a ‘giant of improvisation’, the guitarist played with Benny Goodman, Jack DeJohnette, Dino Saluzzi, Michel Portal and in formations such as JazzZwio and the US-Austrian band Air Mail. In the last years of his life, he created thousands of hours of real-time compositions in Hernstein, Austria – improvised multi-track works in which he played all the instruments himself. The ensemble Clemens Salesny, Martin Bayer, Andi Schreiber and Valentin Duit now brings these original tracks to the stage – in dialogue with Pepl's unmistakable sound – and combines archive material with contemporary improvisational art to create a unique listening experience.
