Album: Mittendrin

With her debut solo album *Mittendrin*, Austrian pianist and composer Barbara Rektenwald presents a multi-layered work that functions like a musical diary. The 14 original compositions blend a deeply rooted jazz idiom with influences from classical music, pop, tango, and world music. The album was recorded by the newly formed Barbara Rektenwald Trio, featuring Ukrainian double bassist Anton Zhukov and Austrian drummer Gottfried Schnürl. Through nuanced improvisation, the musicians span a musical spectrum ranging from spirited sambas and melancholic milongas to groovy jazz-rock tracks.
