The Ensemble Kuhle Wampe is back: with "Übelst," the quartet delivers a fresh sign of life and hints at more to come. The album stays true to the ensemble's political mission: the band delivers pointed commentary on current affairs – forceful, with a sharp eye for detail. Using samples and spoken text fragments, the band musically processes and spins forward current topics – from the madness of American TV evangelists like preacher Kenneth Copeland to the injustice of the "Lottery of Birth". There's room for humor too, as the ensemble proves when it gets to the bottom of the meaning of the word "Awesome". "Übelst" was released on Waschsalon Records.
