Founded in 2019, the Christian Groffner Quartet consists of vocalist and trombonist Christian Groffner, Hubert Gredler on piano, Simon Schmollgruber on bass, and Lukas Böhm on drums. Their debut album, Stories & Melodies, released in 2024, lives up to its name: the band invites listeners into a musical world shaped by strong melodies and storytelling – sometimes absurd and tongue-in-cheek, sometimes reflective and poetic. The quartet also proves its versatility through special programs: one dedicated to texts by H. C. Artmann, commissioned by the Literaturhaus Salzburg, and a rearrangement of Bruckner’s 4th Symphony for the Bruckner Year 2024 – a project that was met with great enthusiasm by audiences.
