In 2019, Christian Muthspiel founded the 17-piece jazz orchestra ORJAZZTRA VIENNA, consisting mainly of young musicians, which made its debut on the Main Stage of the Saalfelden Jazz Festival in the same year. Four different programmes were performed in more than 60 concerts in Austria, Germany and Switzerland from 2019-2024, including "La Melodia della Strada - Ommagio a Federico Fellini" (premiere at the Graz Opera) and the "Riesenradoper UMADUM" on Europe's largest mobile Ferris wheel in Munich. The unusual line-up of six woodwind and six brass instruments, two basses, drums, percussion and piano differs from the usual big band sound to an orchestral sound modelled on classical "virtues". 2 double CDs, TV productions on ARTE and ARD.
