Peter Lenz Large Ensemble

The international 21-piece orchestra, led by the Graz-based composer and percussionist, brings together young, creative musicians from New York and across Europe – with a particular focus on Austria. The big band has cemented itself in jazz history more as a stylistic form than as a fixed line-up. Lenz attempts to loosen this 'cement' through his unique approach to working with large ensembles – shifting the focus to the rich and varied sound palette such formations can offer. A special feature of this project is the collaboration with Colombian artist Violeta Lenz, who has created illustrations and live visuals inspired by Lenz’s compositions.
